Will Chorus digital work with a CI module on a TV?

I have the basic Chorus digital package a few months and have always been a bit disappointed with the picture - I have the Sagem box.

Anyhoo, I got a new Sharp LCD TV today and during the installation it tuned all the digital TV channels in addition to the analog ones. For some reason RTE is unscrambled and I was amazed at the excellent picture - its so much better than that from the Sagem box. There is also a lovely EPG and all controllable from the Sharp remote.

The TV has a CI module slot - is there any chance that the Chorus card would work if I buy a CI module?

AFAIK the CI module would have to be supplied by Chorus for it to work with their network, but unfortunately they do not supply these.

Is the Sagem box outputting RGB video, and do you have it plugged into a SCART socket with RGB inputs (it's often only the first socket that does this)? It should look a lot better than if it's on composite video but still won't be as good as your TV's built-in decoder.

I take it you are on MMDS?

UPC usually have T&C's that say you cannot use the card in any other STB or TV than the one they supply. It is fairly possible that the Chorus card is 'paired' to the STB - this means you wouldn't be able to use it in a CAM unless the card was re-assigned to work in an nother STB...and that would involved getting a D-hit or something downstream from UPC.

As a matter of interest, what model number is your TV?

    -. . ...- . .-. / --. --- -. -. .- / --. .. ...- . / -.-- --- ..- / ..- .--.

That is unusual for them to be still giving out the old Sagem boxes if you only got it a few months ago. I thought they only give out the UPC-branded Thomson boxes now, or is that only in Dublin?

I only have digital a few months. The box wasn't new when I got it.
