Turn the ignition on and off a few times to get the pump going, then try and start it.

Lack of fuel it was low and ran out of the lines. Just put petrol in and try that. The pump noise is probably that theres little or no fuel going through.

The pump noise always comes on when i turn the ignition. I only drove ten miles on the petrol light surely it should go at least 30 miles on that.

When the battery dies, the fuel pump may shut off so push starting is out. try charging the battery

Are you sure its the pump and not solenoid clicking?

The oil light won't go off OP until the engine actually starts, so don't worry about the oil light being on while your trying to start the engine. How much petrol did you put in??? If it was just a fiver's worth or something like that, try adding more fuel and as suggested above, cycle the fuel pump a few times to purge the fuel line.

When i turn on the ignition the oil light comes on for 3seconds and then goes off which is normal but when i tired to start it a few times it came on flashing and beeping which means low oil, which iv checked and it s not low. As for the petrol i put a fiver in and the petrol light is off even if i was low on petrol the engine would give a kick so its not that anyway.

You'll have to take out a plug lead and check for a spark. The problem might not be fuel related.

Is the engine turning over, like trying to start???

I think you might have run the battery down trying to start the car. I'd get jump leads and get it hooked up to another battery for a start so you can at least turn the engine over. I'd try a few more attempts to start it then but make sure you have the engine of the other car running as you are doing this or you'll end up with two cars with dead batteries...

Wierd that. I'd imagine it ran out of petrol, then charge from you trying to start it. Then didn't have enough charge to put the petrol through.

Yod didn't wash it in the mean time or drive through a flood or the likes?

A little patience and perseverance with these things can often do the trick. Glad to see it's sorted...
