hey lads looking for a little help here.

a while back i remember there was a link posted to a part of the microsoft website which would allow you to register a version of windows and authenticate it even though it wasn't legit.

to allow you to get updates and the like.

i cant seem to find it here.

    does anyone have the link??

trying to fix someones computer here and he has an copied version of windows but left the auto updates on and its prompting for it the whole time.

dont think so... you could follow the windows genuine advantage instructions but thats not free... but you can still install most updates though no matter what, it will just bug you about being not genuine(if you do the genunine adavatage update), unless you use a non MS program to get rid of those

set the auto update "to download and prompt you" then install the updates you need when windows picks them up

the right thing to do is to buy a genuine copy

By your own admission, you're trying to help someone breach copyright. Thread closed.

This seems to be happening a bit more frequently of late, the next person to come on here asking for help with this kind of thing is getting a ban (per the charter).
