Yeah it was fight of the night for sure. That Cuban, Garcia ? looks like one for the future. I was chatting with the guys beside me and he was telling me that he gave Sutherland a going over in the gym.... but then again these gym stories are like ass holes.

I thought Long came back well after he was dominated in the first. Fitzgerald threw it away by fooling around, he was acting like he had the fight well won. Crazy.

I think will do well domestically but the jury is still out on him going further.

The Cubans opponent was disappointing - a waste of his time IMO

Would have loved to go to this. They were doing tickets for 20euro for students which is brilliant. It would get people going to shows on a more regular basis and i like the fact that they are pushing interclub rivalries. Irish boxing is getting its stars alright but its missing competiton at domestic level.

I was there too and like so many pro shows there was only the one good fight - Long / Fitzgerald which was excellent entertainment with great atmosphere but pretty low on quality. Couldn't believe how many flush punches Long took in first round and still didn't keep his hands higher than his chest. However, from the second he pushed Fitz back and basically that was it. He wanted it more and was more effective going forward than Fitzgerald was going back.
    Long 58-57

Garcia's opponent was extremely brave, but just outclassed. Garcia is well rounded with a nice variety of punch and good power. Two things I noticed were that he didn't throw as much as one jab and tended to 'chop' his right cross. Of course the jabbing could be because he felt there was no threat, but it's not a good habit to get into. The right definitely needs work.
    Garcia TKO 2

Ormond wasn't as sharp as his debut in Killarney (which I was at) but his excellent conditioning took over against a decent opponent. As has always been the case, he's very left-hand happy and could incorporate the right more often.
Ormond pts (can't remember score, but Ormond didn't drop a round)

John Waldron looked much more relaxed than his debut in Killarney and boxed well within himself and upped it with each round against a durable opponent.
    Waldron 40-37

Ian Timms won in a typical Timms fight. Anyone who has ever seen him knows exactly what I mean.
    Timms 60-54
