Dell Laptop - Formatting data on corrupt hard disk

    Hi all,

The hard disk on my dell laptop has died and Dell have sent a replacement. Thankfully, I had my data backed up.

Dell want me to return the old hard disk to them and will invoice me for the new disk if I don't.

As I had a lot of confidential data on the old hard disk (customer info, etc), how do I go about deleting this data. The old hard disk no longer works in the laptop (i.e. the computer doesn't boot up).

UPS are the courier and they will keep coming back until I give them the old hard disk.

    Thanks,

    W.
