Spelling in job applications (stationery)

Now, as an office administrator, my job description without fail includes the maintenance of office stationery. It's a doddle so I don't know why they even mention it in job requirements, but there it is, so I always include it in job duties when replying.

However, it's spelled "StationEry". The job application I'm typing up at the moment, came with a job description (separate document) which misspelled it "StationAry", and I'll be the first to admit that "stationery" looks a bit weird, even though it's correct. (It's also spelled "StationAry" in my last job contract, so it's a common mistake)

So, do I spell it correctly, possibly having people think that I'm NOT spelling it correctly, or do I spell it wrong, since they already did?

I'm leaning towards spelling it correctly.

Spell it correctly (with the E in 72pt, bold, underlined and bright red, only kidding!) :D

Yep, I'd say spell it correctly. Sounds like whoever did up that job discription for you didn't proof read it. Perhaps relying too much on spellcheck.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

I would definately spell it correctly.

Stationary means not moving. If you look it up on dictionary.com it will say that. It also gives you a list of related searches which includes "free business stationary" etc. :pac:

universal messaging language was a skill required in one job application I saw. They meant UML.

Just change the description to the correct spelling, and include it. :)

I spelled it correctly in the end. Hopefully they won't even notice, but if they do, hopefully they'll either think that's the american spelling, or they'll look it up and find out it's right.

As an aside, the degree to which spelling and grammar mistakes are tolerated in professional correspondence here (in Ireland) is shocking. I never saw the like of it in Canada.
