My follow boardians, a moment of your time please. Whilst following the great debate of the physical makeup of a Curley Wurly in another thread* one question kept arising and it set me off on a path to a land of great wonders. That question, dearest reader is of the Size or the aforementioned Curly Wurly. Does the confectionary actually only appear smaller as one grows in stature or is it in fact actually smaller then it's original dimensions of yesteryear. On your behalf my dearest ladies and gentlemen I scripted a letter to the good people at Cadburys beseeching them for the answer. Following is the reply I received to my query. I leave it up to you Boardsonians to make of it what you will.
Thanks for your e-mail. Unfortunately we do not have this type of info available. All the detail we have is on:-
    our own web site www.cadbury.co.uk
    our sister company website www.cadbury.com
    or Cadbury World website www.cadburyworld.co.uk
    or our skills website www.skillsspace.co.uk
Sorry we can’t be more positive on this occasion.

Thank you Charlie in Customer Relations for the effort you made in this regard for me.

So there you are Boardsers, make of that what you can. The truth is out there.

If you had have wrote in saying they were getting smaller and you weren't happy about it then they would have sent you out some free ones.

One does believe that one has far too much time to one's self.

It is a very old marketing ploy! A company is under no legal obligation to inform its customers of a reduction in the size of a product! So what happens is that they gradually reduce the size over a period of time and then hey presto! "All new and 10% bigger at the same great price", if they kept to the original size and indeed made it 10% bigger each time the said they did, you would need a wagon to carry your wagon wheel!

Maybe someone needs to post the dimensions and weights of all chocolate bars here for posterity, then in the future, we can come back and compare them, to see if they're smaller.

apparently (as in i read on the net), someone kept a cadbury's creme egg from a few years ago and they'd gotten smaller

If my memory serves me right, during my youth, Curly Wurly's were at least 8 feet long.

    From wikipedia:
When first introduced in Britain, the original Cadbury Creme Egg weighed 40 grams (1.4 oz) and contained 171.6 Calories. Cadbury Creme Eggs sold in the UK and Canada have remained at this size, but those sold by Hershey's in the United States have decreased in size since their introduction - before 2006 they are listed with a weight of 39 grams, while today they are listed at 34 grams.

I don't think they kept an egg think they found an old wrapper with the weight on it.

Sure they're only thinking of our health, right?

Yup, BJ Novak kept one in his freezer and showed one in an interview with Conan O'Brien!
