On my sky plus box i had to keep recorded programmes to ensure what i did record was viewable, this has happened on i think 5 or 6 sky plus boxes i have had over the course of time, and each time the problem presents itself just DAYS after teh guarantee is up, so i decided to go to HD, well either i know nothing or the engineer needs a crash course on instalations.....

he told me that the reason i was having that problem with not being able to play recorded programmes or programmes just stopping in the middle was because i was recording 2 programmes at once, he said you cant do that, so i showed him, by recording 2 and playing something already recorded, he said i dont know how that is happening i have never seen that before, and scratched his head.... so i decided to ask a few more questions....

can you record 2 programmes and watch sky anytime?
    Engineers reply= NO

does the sky HD box have a larger recording capacity then sky + taking into consideration what sky anytime takes up
ANSWER: No its the same as the box i had

Will my sky + remote work with the new sky HD
    ANSWER: No

can anyone tell me what teh actual facts are please?
i know the sky + remote does work, but for an engineer to tell me it is impossible to record 2 things at once blew me away.

also i hate the sluggishness of the remote on these and already i have problems, where i recorded a half hour programme, and it wouldnt play, his response was look it didnt record as it only took up 1%, i said no thats fine as look here is a 40 minute programme we recorded and watched and that also says 1%, he said he didnt know and the problem was caused by over lapping recordings.

    any help would be great.

you can record 2 programs and watch anytime (just did it) and have done it loads before.

if however you are recording bbc1 and bbc2 while watching a recording from the planner and turn over to discovery say,
it will cancel one or the recordings to allow you watch discovery.

There is a warning flashed up on screen to tell you that one of them will be stopped though.

the hard drive in a hd box is 320Gb with 160 (i think reserved for anytime ) is this more than sky + box?

if you get a HD box it comes with a remote.

    1. Yes. You can record 2 programmes while watching anytime or anything else you have recorded.

    2. The HD box has a larger recording capacity up to 80 hrs on count to the HD channels taking up more space.

    3. Yes the Sky+ remote will work on HD boxes and vice versa. The only difference is the colour. HD being metallic silver and SD a greyish colour.
