hi, i came across this car on tradecarview and i am wondering what people think of it? i'm thinking of buying it.
This is my first time importing so anyone want to share their experiences of the cost of vrt and customs and the other costs once it docks in dublin?
Its costing me €1300 to get it to dublin but from their how much more would i be likely to pay?

    here's some pics. thanks.

Its rough, got a rear shunt too.
to me, its not worth importing, it'll be worth nothing here when it arrives.

Lot of damage round the back end. Boot doesn't look like its sitting right either where the badge is.

€1300 to buy and ship or just to ship it?

shure it'll cost you more than the cost of the car to get it repaired properly. And if you need a panel now or in the future, you'll be hard pressed to get one.
It's cheap for a reason you know.
Make a decent cheap ragged rough drift car (if it is rwd that is?)

But will it be worth it is what you have to ask.

If it costs another €1000 say to fix everything is it really worth spending that much on it or would you be better looking for a similar car in better shape for €2-2.5k:confused:

You would REALLY have to want that model to go through the grief of importing and repair, never mind what you can't see.

It's in bits! and I bet parts will be hard to get!

To the OP....I wouldn't do it, the car is battered outside, the engine is probably the same.

What model is it? looks like a Toyota, but never seen one like it

That car looks like it has had a rough life.

You can buy this kind of junk here for €1300, why go to the trouble of importing it from the other side of the world?

You would trip over cars like that in this country.

It's a ST202 Corona Exiv 200GT, a 4 door hardtop based on the Celica platform from around the same time (mid '90s, 200GT spec is front wheel drive with 3S-GE 2.0 engine). Never seen one over here - there doesn't seem to be much interest in Japanese "hardtops" like these (they're barely even hardtops as they still have b-pillars, just frameless doors). I'd say it's mechanically similar to the Celica and Corona/Carina E from around then, but the body is completely different. And that one's a mess...

    Aye, looks a mess.

Add VRT, tax, nct and all that to the car. Plus the cost of repair, and the fact that no one know's what it is come resale. Waste of money i'd say.

Dont put yourself through the pain of it. You will only need to and want to repair the bodywork and then god only knows whats wrong with the car that they dont tell you.

180p and 190nm of torque. Depending on how much of that is left it's not got very unreasonable power. I still rather invest in Anglo Irish though.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I find it amazing that someone spends what probably is at least about a grand to ship a banger worth only a couple of hundred, to the other side of the world

Personally, I think the car is a piece of junk. I don't mean to be smart with you but my guess is your in your early to mid 20's. Parts for that will be a nightmare if you've any problems. Why would you import a car in that state 5,000 miles away. There's no saving her. At the least your going to find it difficult to get service parts and will need to order them online. I think your cracked in the head but sure go ahead. Growing up and getting wiser is all about making mistakes and bad decisions, sorry if I come across as patronising.

I'd imagine after two and a half years, the decision has been made.

looks like a very bad idea to me, bland car in very bad condition..why bother

Don't forget top rate VAT on purchase price as it is coming from outside the EU. You cannot remove it from the docks without clearing it through customs
