Yeah, at the moment there can be no argument about the Irish 15 jersey.

Murphy is playing well, but Kearney is playing better and he is young. No choice really.

Without doubt he should be FB for Ireland and hopefully makes the Lions selection, I'd prefer not to see him on the wing but needs must at times but certainly in Leinster using on the wing with Dempsey at FB was a waste.

I watched him on the Rugby Club and he was full of praise for Kearney with his running and kicking. Definite starter at full back for Ireland and Lions.

While I have to agree, Kearney should get the FB position, but ... WILL he??

Why are people discounting the credentials of Lee Byrne ? At the end of November, he seemed to the the racing certainty for the Lions #15.

At the end of January, it's Rob Kearney.

There's a lot of rugby to be played between now and then, and, right now, Kearney needs the Ireland #15 and to retain it.

I dont think anyone is discounting Lee Byrne who has been fantastic.I just think Kearney is better than him.

Kearney seems to be a popular player with every supporter of Irish rugby,so of course everyone would love him to get that 15 Lions shirt.

In the end it will probably be Lee Byrne at fullback and kearney on the left wing but we would all love him to nail that 15.

Lee Byrne is also 28 and up until 2 years ago was no where near as good as he is now.Kearney is 22.
One could argue that lee Bryne is just in the form of his life, who knows if he will keep it up but he is being overtaken by Kearney atm.

Exactly. Byrne was in fantastic form before the injury, but I think Kearney is a better all round FB than him.

Kearney isn't a good enough winger to get on the Lions team there imo. Its a close call between him and Byrne for fullback though, and one I think Kearney could shade. A lot is going to depend on their respective 6 Nations though. I don't think there is any conceivable way that Kearney won't start all Ireland's games at full back.
