    It's my lucky day today.

Ordered a set of racing 3s a couple of weeks back - they were out of stock. Just received delivery this morning and was wondering why my 8 speed sram cassette wouldn't fit...

then I noticed they were Racing 1s! BAM!

It's much the same as the difference between Campagnolo's Zonda and Eurus Wheels.

Racing 3 have bladed steel spokes. Racing 1 have the wider, but lighter aluminium spokes.

What?! They sent you R1's instead of R3's? You wucky wucky wastard! That's brill. I have a set of R3's and they're really good.

You might have to do a bit of Googling on this. I remember reading a while back that Fulcrum had those 10 speed only Shimano hubs on the Racing Zeros and Racing 1. I think they changed back to the older 8/9/10 hub in later models. I'm not sure if I'm remembering this all correctly, so its worth checking yourself.

Yeah - they've given me a campag lockring so I assume the body is campag also. Will need to change that for an 8/9/10 shimano body

Ah, I'd assumed that it was a Shimano body and it was the 10 speed only thing that was the problem.

You are putting Racing 1s on an 8 speed bike!?

Well, yeah, I think so - as crazy as it sounds... I think the wheels are worth more than the bike!

Option 1 is to change the body on the wheel to fit my 8 speed setup

Option 2 is to sell the wheels and buy a set of racing 3s with an 8/9/10 body on it

Option 3 is to upgrade to 10 speed which I can't really afford at the minute.

EDIT: Option 3 isn't an option as it's a campag body on the wheel...

Clearly you need Super Record 11-speed :D What's the bike? Racing 1s are serious wheels!

Option 4 - return them and get what you ordered.

Actually - that's looking most likely because as far as I can tell my credit card's been charged for the R1s.

Ah well, it was great while it lasted.

... and I bet you never got any Wiggle jellys with them. I think they've stopped doing them :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

@aidan- check it in your order history on Wiggle.

@Hungrycol- I got a bag of standard Haribo sweets last time, not the Wiggle-shaped ones. Strange. Also got a Wiggle bottle opener.

I was thinking of racings 1's for my latest project. What's up with Mavic lately? There's no Krysiums SL's anywhere. I also need to pick a groupset, but that's another thread.
what wheels would you go with for around the same price as the Racing 1's?

They might have their hands full with the R-Sys debacle.

Yeah, I'd say there's a few over time hours been worked lately.
