try your local pharmacy, they should be able to have a look at them for you to see if they look kosher, to actually get them tested is more difficult, only place i can think of would be a chemistry/pharmacy dept of a college, id doubt if theyd be arsed doin it for you, worth a shot though.

its just difficult to know when you buy generic medications whether theyre properly dosed, under or overdosed etc

I used to think generic medications were a great idea until i heard someone over dosed from a valium 5 tablet and its made me suspicious

i read about a place in usa ,u give them a tablet, legal or otherwise and pay 50dollars or something and they send you a lsit of what it contained

would be handy if there was such a thing in ireland

I'm sure theres a university with a mass spectrometer lying around... lol there's always the toxicology lab in beaumont hospital.

Firstly, if it's a reputable company, why would you doubt them?

Secondly, a pharmacy would be very unlikely to be able to identify a UK generic since the majority of generics sold here are made by Irish companies.

And thirdly, the cost of analysis would be multiples of the cost of the tablet, so you would be a long time buying the allergy tablet from an Irish pharmacy before making your money back.

Production of generics is done under license, and the FDA/IMB don't give them out to anybody. It takes huge money and a long time to get the accreditation from them. It's even more work to keep it. If you are doubting the quality of a generic, you might as well question the quality of your Pfizer, GSK and Roche products too, because they all get the (somewhat) same accredidation.

this is a very strange question.

Why would you feel the need to test a tablet unless it was possibly illegally sourced? Why not get those medications in ireland?

i'd imagine it would be a hell of a lot easier to get the tabs the traditional way - ie gp prescription and pharmacist dispensing. thats presuming the pills are legal, of course.
you cannot trust any meds you get over the internet.

OP, you could try your nearest public analyst lab as a starting point for testing or information. Microchem laboratories in Dungarvan carry out testing for the pharma industry but I'd imagine it doesn't some cheap.

Is there any particular reason why you want to test anyway, are the drugs from a questionable source or not performing as expected ? Do you have access to the drug ingredients data to know what percentage content you are looking for?
I have heard of a case of a reputable drug manufacturing company carrying out a clinical trial using a comparator product from another maker which was sourced via a reputable broker the company has used many times before - tests showed that the drug only had about 30% of the activity it was meant to.

Yes, no doubting this but sometimes quality control reject material gets its way back to the public via unscruplous individuals example

i suppose your right ,its probably safer to not trust the internet for such things as medication

I was just suspicious after reading that the majority of onlinne meds aree fake and some contain NONE of the advertised drugs at all

to answer the other person ,yes of course i could buy in ireland but the whole point of buying online was because the price differnce

it seems like if u buy fake meds there is no viable way of testing so basically your taking your chances

A number of private labs, one in Stillorgan just cant remember the name they do some work for HSE

I think Beaumont has a chemical pathology lab and does this too but generally for the coroner not for someone off the street they would howvere know who does
