I have two goldfish in a large goldfish bowl but of late within 24 hours of changeing water, washing stones etc the water becomes cloudy and very smelly.

I am not keen on on getting a large aquarinm, is there any thing that should be added to the water to stop the smell ?

    tks

Yes you should be using a water conditioner to remove chlorine and metals. When you say cloudy is it white or green? When you clean the stones you should just rinse them in the water you take out of the bowl do not wash them under a hot or cold tap as it will kill any good bacteria on them! Is there a reason you do not want to get an aquarium? You can get nice small ones these days; IMO keeping fish in a bowl is cruel because the water is not filtered
