I have just been quoted €500 replace the wishbones on my 147 - does that sound reasonable?

Not really if it's just the wishbones, but I don't know how much parts are, also a wheel alignment could set you back around 200.

Top wishbones or bottom? Both sides?

    €200? Are you for real?

So, general consensus is I'm being overcharged?

The general consensus is that you need to provide more information, what is being replaced? Is it the top or bottom wishbones or even both? Is it both sides?

got a quote from a vw dealer of 144 ex VAT for a wishbone (just the part). At those prices, your quote is about right. On the other hand the motor factors have wishbones for 33 ex VAT. So it all depends.

Well the bottom wishbones are 170.0+VAT EACH
thats 340, so if you say 1 hours labour(85)
all plas the vat at 13.5% comes to 491...
so its the parts that are jacking the price up..

re. voxpot. you can never compare two different car manufactors prices, they all have different price structues
also.. had someone in here yestreday who bought wishbones for a zafira in a factors... the genuine ones worked out cheaper..

My point was that it depends on where he is getting the work done.
