    Hiya,

I was just up my local social welfare place and while I was filling out the form I noticed that you can claim for back payment! I didn't realise that! I presumed they would only pay from the time you sign on!

So I put down the date that I finished my previous job which was back in Oct last year!

What are the chances of getting this back payment and when would I be likely get it? I heard you have to wait a few weeks these days to get any kind of payment because of the hugh numbers applying for it!

My last employer didnt tell me she had made me unemployed for a week and a half.

She rang me up one Monday morning (as I was going out the door to work) and said she wouldnt need me that day, she'll give me a ring to let me know the story.

A week and a half went by and I rang her and she said she'd have to let me go, and she'd send me out a P45. She went on holiday for 2 weeks and then gave me the P45. I explained all this and I still didnt it get back dated. I signed on as soon as I had recieved my P45 and the P45 was dated from that Monday I thought I would be working.

    Why didn't you sign on?

    Always sign on. Always.

It's likely if you turn up they'll think you're taking the piss looking to get signed back to October. You'd want to have a bloody good excuse.
