A quick run down of todays Thurles card.

1.35 Maiden hurdles are so often a minefield but I think this one may be easier to call than most. The 3 that jump off the page to me are Baily Bridge for Mouse Morris and Slippers Madden who ran a good race beaten 20 lengths behind the classy Zaarito in a Punchestown hurdle. Tom Taafes Sun Tzu is an improving sort over obstacles and should go very close to breaking his maiden but the likely price of 3/1 or less is very unappealing in a race like this. Rate Field could prove to be the value bet of the race if he makes a smooth graduation to hurdles. Pat Doyle runs a tight yard and doesn't have too many but the ones he has are usually very useful. Talented son Jack takes the ride in ground conditions that should suit.

    Back Rate Field 1pt e/w

2.05 A small field go to post for the Moyarkey Hurdle and its very hard to look beyond Faltering Fullback. Eric McNamara's stable is in decent form over hurdles with Coala Mann winning in Limerick yesterday and with Faltering Fullback boasting a much higher rating than anything else in the field it's hard to see past the McNamara charge if a clear round of jumping is secured. Mythical Prince could provide the challenge but the Noel Meade horse will have to overcome being 8lbs worse off too Faltering Fullback.

Back Faltering Fullback 1pt win NB

2.35 Borrowaddy will justifiably go off as a short favourite courtesy of some good form and the Walsh-Mullins combination. However the crafty Dessie Hughes could provide a decent priced alternative as the answer in this race with Lurgan boasting some very consistent form. Hello Kitty ran a good race last time out on this very track and Sean Flanagans 3lb claim puts the horse 8lbs better off than the two mentioned above. Definitely one to watch, though the vote goes to Lurgan to continue Hughes good form at the venue. One who looks somewhat exposed here is Who's Deal and I'd advise a small lay for those using Betfair.

    Back Lurgan 1pt win
    Lay Who's Deal 0.5pt

3.05 The Kinloch Brae is the feature event of the day and see's some classy types contest this grade 2 chase. You could potentially make a case for every horse in the race but in my mind I just cannot see past Scotsirish. An admittedly unoriginal choice, Scotsirish would seem to have Knight Legend covered while the other main threat as I see it, One Cool Cookie is 2lbs the wrong side of Scotsirish. Of the rest Kilcrea Castle is a useful performer while Glenfinn Captain would be expected to run into the places dropping back to a more favourable shorter trip. However Scotsirish warrants the Nap of the day over this 2m4f trip which I'm very hopeful should suit the Willie Mullins inmate.

    Back Scotsirish 2pt win Nap

3.45 Back to more typical Thurles fare here with a mediocre 15 runner handicap hurdle. While Estuary Princess would appear to have had the race handed to her the last day she is a very consistent performer and remains off a very attractive for Paddy Flood and Eric McNamara. Ballysassian would seem to be the best of the rest having won over course and distance previously but 11lbs is quite a bit to concede over heavy ground. Estuary Princess is favoured to complete a double on the card for McNamara.

    Back Estuary Princess 1pt e/w

4.15 A decent grade 3 competition over fences, Brotenstown can continue to improve for the Cashman yard. While Moskova will be popular, Brotenstown appears to have the measure of Paul Nolans charge of late and the recent win in Cork will I feel stand to him in these conditions. One who I feel is very exposed in this company is Garrai Ard, and Dusty Sheehys horse seems to me to be an attractive lay if you're operating on the machine.

    Back Brotenstown 1pt win
    Lay Garrai Ard 0.5pt

4.45 Big Zumo looks the one to be the right side of in the bumper. Having won over heavy ground in Down Royal, the McParlan owned and trained horse could make an impression on his first trip back since March. A small e/w bet is advised here.

    Back 0.5pt e/w Big Zumo

    Best bet for a lucky 15 would be;
    Rate Field
    Faltering Fullback
    Lurgan
    Scotsirish

    Good luck with it ;)

    Some good selections there sir,
I do like Mythical Prince in the second for Carberry/Meade;)
I agree that Scotsirish is the nap of the day.

An excellent write-up and analysis, Cson. Well done.
    Thank you for that.

Cson terrible as usual! Scotsirish rates a LAY in the big race. He just might struggle to get home in very testing ground and im sure this race will be run at a good pace.
Bohemian Lass is a cert in the mares chase. Simple as that. Also the last race is not a 'bumper' as you say. IT IS A HUNTERS CHASE!
