Apple have a fairly reliable reputation with quick repairs. I would go straight to the vendor and ask them if they will replace the iPod. If not, they will tell you to send it to Apple so they can carry out any necessary repairs.

just sent my Ipod to apple today as I couldn't hear anything(done the headphones, Ipoddock nothing worked..and checked the volume too!...)-bought it 10months ago on Apple website-so jsut got to log a repair request on the apple website...next day received an envelope with a box for the ipod and the instructions needed...and I sent it today back to them...up until now...they're great..no hassle at all:)

you just need create an account and serial number of your ipod and I believe you can do it yourself from home successfully:)

Repairs for non-computer products generally tend to be replacements to keep a low turnaround time. Could be a new or refurbished piece.

yup that sounds to be true...check the repair status of my ipod in their website...and it said: "replacement pending" this was after it was on checking device status for only a couple of hour)-so hopefully I'll have a pretty new ipod(or refurbished) soon-can't wait now:)

Should i go back to the Vendor or contact Apple themselves?
Also, has anyone had issues with Apples returns dept., what are my chances of getting this solved asap?

In accordance with your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act you should be able to get a refund, replacement or repair with the vendor. Your contract is with the vendor so they should really be your first port of call.

Seeing as you've only had it for one month they would most likely replace it there and then if you bought it in a shop.
