    Hey everybody,
I got a DS lite in the states and without thinking, i plugged it into an adapter ( which i use for my ipod ) to charge up. It has not charged, does anybody know if i have fried it? Or if i should use a transformer to charge it ?

    thanks

The DS plug will need a transformer to work as the US one will only do 110v while we are 230v (unless nintendo have changed that recently).

Can you clarify what adapter you used to try and charge it.

Doh, the converter i used was just a pin converter, i dont think it steps down the voltage. I guess i wrecked it :(

The adapter is probably gone but I think the DS should be ok as the adapter output should be the same for US and EU charges.

You can get another charger or USB charger cheap on the net, DX will be the best place but it will take around 3 weeks to get to you.

Most shops like HMV or Game sell chargers pretty cheap and even though it's a little more expensive than the website you'll get the added bonus of playing with your DS asap!

I wouldnt say any major damage done, I'd say a new charger will work for you.

If it doesnt you might have blown a fuse in the DS, but a new one can be soldered in.

DS consoles work on 5.2 volts, the official US charger takes an input of 110v and outputs the 5.2 required.

Likewise the Official European charger inputs a 230-240v and again outputs 5.2v.

The most likely event that has occurred here is your charger blew as it was expecting 110v and got 240. Your DS should be ok.

You should consider an unofficial charger btw if you travel back and forth to the states as nearly all of these are designd to take 100-240 and output the 5.2v which means you could use them with the simple pin adaptor in the states.
