Just caught the following on Setanta Sports. Initially assumed it be some Eurotrash/Monty Python-esque spoof but on closer examination it seems to be an actual sport:

What price a boards.ie XI (or II in this case)?

It's weird, but then again, it's german, so ... no surprises there

OMHFG! I thought this must be a joke. I mean they surely must be fake world champs jackets on fake riders for a fake sport.....or so I thought... but it's actually on the UCI site!

'€2000 and weighs a lot more than a regular bicycle' caught my attention....bizzare germans....

Still could be business in it if you're enterprising - Anyone have a good grasp of welding? Plenty unused scaffoling around the country right now that would make lovely bike-ball frames :D

    Forget cycle-ball, what about this:
The first official artistic cycling World Championships were held in 1956. This sport is most popular in Germany, where there are no fewer than 10000 licence holders. As a sport, artistic cycling is a bit like ice-skating or gymnastics. It is a discipline requiring skill, balance, concentration and courage. The competitors (entering either as individuals or in pairs) offer a 6-minute programme with a musical accompaniment. A jury judges the quality of the figures.

Cycleball has been around for years here, never have scumbags kick a ball at you! ;) last time I had stones thrown at me near sheriff street.

I flicked one to some kids the other day, didn't mean to, just saw them looking at me in the dark, then saw the ball rolling at me (they were not aiming or anything). Stopped just in time and knocked it towards them.

And as for that cycle ball thing.... It looks slightly insane... Imagine the amount of skin burns you'd end up with from the gym floors, not to mention the awkward mulit person, heavy bike pile ups.

All sports look absurd the first time you see them. (That doesn't mean they won't remain so, of course. I'm thinking of polo here.)

Ah, Trans World Sport. Used to watch on weekend mornings that as a teenager.

    Which brings me to...

Slightly camp German bloke: "There isn't a single world champion. You can only achieve that as a couple."

    (snigger)

    Raam and Tiny?
