    Figure 4 of the report is pretty good.
    the number of serious injury collisions is on a serious downward slope. was about 1950 in 1995, about 1200 in 2000, 800 in 2005 and just over 600 in 2007.

    This is, despite my scepticism at the whole road safety industry, very significant and good progress, and probably should be trumpeted by FF more than it is.

    I thought Bertie should have done a 'Chirac' for his last years and clamped down totally on road safety. Chirac reduced the death rate in France from 10000 per annum to about 5000 in a couple of years by abandoning the traditional amnesty for road traffic law violations and introducing a no tolerance approach to road safety.
