Hello. I'm interested in getting a small team of aspiring game developers together with a goal of completing a game by June.

    Project Details/Aims:
    • Release at least 1 simple game by June
    • Release all source code/images/etc. under GPL
    • Team members gain important skills/experience
    • Team members gain valuable CV fodder
    People Thinking of Applying Should:
    • Be self-motivated and hard-working
    • Be sociable / capable of working as part of a team
    • Have some examples of their work they can show me
    • Live near Dublin
    • Be available at least 1 night per week for meetings etc.
    • Ideally be aged 18-25
What I Can Bring to the Team:
    • Knowledge of software design principles
    • Good programming skills (Java, C++, Python, and too many more to name :P)
    • Experienced team-leader
    • Passion for the 'Art of Game Design'
In particular I'm looking for someone who would be able to handle the art and design needs of the project.

If you're interested please drop me a PM with your details (age/location etc) and a bit about your skills/experience.

If enough people get back to me, I'll organize a meeting and hopefully we can get a team together :)

Thanks for reading - sorry if this is the wrong board.

@NekkidBibleMan: Thanks for the sticky :).

@satchmo: Thanks for that link. I had actually searched for a website along those lines but couldn't find anything. Looks like a good resource anyways :) Have posted the ad there for greater exposure.

I have actually set myself up with a team, and so far we've got 4 years work complete on a 3D space trading/sim like Elite. (theres 5 of us) We are nearing release 1 and theres a lot I've learned in the past 4 years. There were several ocasions when I would have liked to have some where to go to talk to people and get answers and learn from others. (Rather than just researching online, theres a lot to be said for just talking to people)

As a result of this I was considering setting up some sort of weekly lessons or workshop for those interested in learning certain aspects of game development. To start with I'd like to run a 5 week introductory course in 3D Modeling for video games some where in the city center.

I've helped a few other people get started on this and it was at one of their suggestions that I decided to run an actual class for a few weeks.

Do you think any one would be interested?

This is the game I eventually made: http://pyedpypers.org/index.php?page=project&projectid=33&view=true

Bit late and I ended up making it by myself :P

I plan to remake it using XNA and put it on xbox live... one day...

    Good luck anyway,

Here's a game me and group of guys in college made using XNA (along with some extra stuff for physics)

Yeah, the level of interactivity and general fun was MINDBLOWING.
    My favourite part was
when the car turned the corner
    .

Game of our generation (second only to Brain Training maybe).
