Unless someone tells me otherwise

I'm buying a 3 wood (currently ignoring 3 wood from starter set in bag),

I have no 5 wood, don't use my 3 iron at all, and have broken my 4 iron again (don't think it was repaired properly last time.)

I can hit my 4 iron well.

I've been eying up www.onlinegolf.co.uk sale for weeks now.

    Thinking of buying

    http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk/mens/golf-clubs/fairway-woods/185scog/1236pog.asp

    regular flex 3 wood.

    http://www.onlinegolf.co.uk/mens/golf-clubs/rescue-golf-clubs/190scog/3867pog.asp

    in both 19 and 22.

    regular flex.

    total c. 210 sterling.

Which except for a sand wedge will see me with a complete upgrade from my beginner set (I take the lob from greenside, and can happily hit 5 iron up from fairway bunkers - so not sure it's required?)

So as the title says, unless someone tells me otherwise, I'm splashing the cash. Any better ideas?

Go for it , you will know what you need for your game better than anyone else. I would suggest two things to help you though. See if you can hit these clubs before purchase, maybe a friend might have them etc or get to a golf shop who let you demo the clubs. No point in buying something that just doesnt suit no matter how cheap or nice it looks. Secondly if your getting lessons maybe ask a pro about shaft suitability etc and he might have other suggestions to help you in your decision....

    Good Luck

Top buys. Have the 4 wood instead of a 3 wood and is probably my fav club. Bought it of that site as well about 6 months ago. Have a Burner rescue as well and its easy to hit. Go for the 3 wood if you plan to use it off the tee otherwise opt for more loft. Enjoy

Im only starting out but I love my 3-wood. Would'nt go near the short irons and I find its a lot more forgiving than a driver without sacrificing a great deal of distance for me. 5-wood wouldnt really have enough oomph for me but the 3-wood is just right.

In summary: Babybing loves his 3-wood;)
