Im not sure where to put this exactly so apologies if its not in the right forum. Does anyone know of any electronic surplus stores or just a store which sells electronic components? Or should i just not bother and mail order them?
Again sorry if it's not in the right forum, feel free to move.

Dunno what you mean by 'electronic surplus stores' Is that like a factory seconds store or something?
I use Radionics.ie for electronic components. You can go to their premises in Dublin and order at the trade counter if you wish.
Its a rare occasion radionics don't have what I need but if they don't my next port of call is farnell

Yeah that sort of thing. Like a walk in store with just alot of used or salvaged components you know? Im not entirely sure myself it's just a term ive seen used on american websites so there ya go ha. Ive been looking through radioonics but i havent hear of farnell before thanks. How long do they usually take to deliver?

Radionics are the fastest company I've ever dealt with for delivery, I've ordered stuff off their site sometimes and there'd be a knock on the door 3 hours later! Usually have it to you same day if your order before lunch and you're in Dublin, lightning fast but you pay for it.
Farnell are cheaper but their service is a long way behind radionics in every aspect.

Wow that is good delivery. Yeah i noticed that farnell are cheaper alright. Is there a delivery charge? Also I was wondering if you could recomend a good cheap multi meter?

sad to say there is no such thing as a "surplus store" in this country as far as i'm aware and its not for want of looking! Far better to break it up and bin it or better yet stick it on a ship to china:rolleyes:

http://www.electronic-recycling.ie/ used to sell off parts and hardware at low prices but looks like they have given that up in favor of the above approach.
