Just got my windows and doors installed. Next day noticed the height of the opening on window in the landing upstairs is just under 600mm. All the other windows uptairs open at around 1000mm (bedrooms and bathroom).
I phoned the rep to ask him about it and he said the 800mm min rule only applys to bedrooms and that the landing is OK. Is this true?

there needs to be fixed 'guarding' at 900mm above landing level.....

this can usually be by means of an internal guard bar or external (depending on the widow opening).... of fixed toughnened glazing...

I agree with what syd posted and maybe you could point the rep in the direction of this forum and tell him to post up the reply that he give you

You could fall out of the landing window as easily as a bedroom. Even 800 in a bedroom is quite low.

Any opening window on first floor must be at least 800mm from finished floor level unless opening out onto balcony or with a guardrail.
