Should I apply?

Hi, I am doing a Masters at the moment. I am doing it part-time and have just complete my first semester.

I was on a web-site there just browsing through the job section and I came accross a job that I will be qualified to do when I am finished. It would be perfect!!!I even have some experience at the moment of what they are looking for.

The thing is, as I said I am only 1/4 of the way through. Do you think I should apply anyways? It really is a good opportunity (if you were qualified). Jobs like this dont come along often. But I want to be taken seriously at the same time. Do you think I should still apply?

    Thanks

At the end of the day it is not your decision if the company decides to make you an offer or not so go for it. Worst case scenario is a no after all.

    why not?

the worst thing that can happen is you end up where you are now?

    Thanks for the replies.

I guess I didnt want them laughing at me which I know is kinda silly but the job is at the college where I am studying. Would it look bad?

speak to one of your lecturers & see what they say.

I'd agree with this, maybe they'd endorse you or give you a letter of recommendation if they know you

But even if they don't, it's worth applying. All they can do is turn you down.

You should definetly apply for this postion. Often jobs are advetised with miniumum education stated, Deg, MA etc...

This is often used to deter unsuitable candiates so too many CV's do not have to be trawled through. As you are currently doing a masters I don;t see why you would not have a shot off it at least. If there are other candidates who have already completed their master and have enough experience you would not be considered, worth a shot anyway.

Your current study could be a lot more relevent than a masters completed 10 years ago.

    Best fo luck.

I'd apply, it doesn't hurt! Make sure you say honestly that you are currently in the process of obtaining your qualifications but you have such and such relevant experience to make up for it. They might like it (especially if they can cut the salary on offer... that's the tricky part).

    Thanks for the replies.

Well, I applied for the job yesterday. The closing date is the 2nd Feb and I work full time as well so submitted it yesterday.

I dont hold out much hope, but you are right at least I applied! You gotta be in it to win it! I have finished some modules (its a taught Masters) and got A's in them so at least it might look like I am serious.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
