Are schools or any government run institutions exempt from VAT charges.

If I go to a school and perform a service do I charge them 13.5% VAT or leave VAT off the invoice?

You charge them VAT and they will just claim it back in due course.

If you're in any doubt, you would always charge the full rate of VAT. They can claim it back from Revenue if they're entitled to.

Yes its better to be safe than sorry.

Because at the end of the day you must account for your own VAT. Let them sort out their own VAT issues with the Revenue.

I have seen this before. Dont let does slimy teachers try to talk you out of charging VAT...:D..seriously dont.

no schools will be registered for VAT but if you are registered for Vat you will have to charge them vat . They will not be able to reclaim this however.
