Sky+ signal/intermittent problem.

I have had sky+ for around 2 years and have had no problems up until about 3 months ago when I noticed that some channels (Channel 4, E4, Dave, Bravo, Sky News) were not working :

    'No satellite Signal'

Some channels - BBCs RTE are always there without problem.

This is an intermittent problem in that one day I'll get the 'No satellite Signal' for the channels listed above and the next day all channels will be working and signal strength will be great and Signal Lock = OK.

Any idea what would cause such an intermittent problem and why the same channels are impacted each time I lose 'half' the signal ?

I've tried to relate the times its not working with bad weather or rain or cloud or particular times of day - but doesn't appear to be a pattern.

I really dont want to go down the route of engineer yet, as the memory of their incompetence at time of installation is too fresh in my mind ! But I'll prob have to unless someone can help ...please?!

    Hi

Try unplugging your DECT wireless phone.

I think these can interfere somehow

When all channels working, signal strength is stable and around 3/4 when all is well and both inputs locked OK and quality is 7/8's

When usual channels not working, even the working channels start pixelating and jumping around and signal strength/quality does a dance up and down around the 0 mark with neither inputs are locked.

Its either quite bad with only half channels working
or perfect with all channels working and good quality/strength.

I have been sat there watching CH4 and out of the blue get screen 'No signal'. Tried rebooting and checking wires at the back etc.. doesn't change the situation. But then in might be working again the next morning!

Very interesting regarding the DECT phones. Will experiment with them - see if thats anything to do with the problem - although the phones were here before Sky dish.

Exactly, plug them out and see what happens.

More than likely its a Dish/lnb/cabling/box problem and will require a installer visit.

If its not the DECT phones that are causing problems i should suggest checking your signal/quality strength and get an engineer around..could be a dish realignment problem

It's a typical symptom of a Thomson power supply fault. In case you don't know what make/model you have, try identifying it here:
