    Hi all,
I know there's Tom Murphy, the Audi dealer, & Pierce's in Tipp,
but I'm looking for a GOOD non-Audi dealer to give me a quote on an A4 timingbelt. I'm broke (unemployed) and can't afford the €600 to €800 Audi quote.
I know it's a big expensive job, but if I can save €100 that's big deal to me
    right now.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks all
    Regards

Probably a bit too far out of your way, but Blackwater Motors in Fermoy did my Timing Belt on the Passat way cheaper than anyone else. Open 7.30am-8pm, and good coffee plus newspapers while you wait. Full service AND timing belt on Passat was €695 approx.

If the timing belt broke what else broke?

    *wow*

If it is your spacebar try using the underscore instead of the asterisk. It_causes_slightly_less_blood_loss_from_the_eye_sockets.

He's broke. Not the timing belt.

I just spent ages removing all the stars from your original post.

Please use "preview post" the next time and fix it yourself

Again, sorry for the asterisks. No idea why that's happening, doesn't do it anywhere else. Never did it here before either.
I'm posting from my regular system (not a mobile). Writing on two other forums this morning no problem, no problem in my emails...

Hadn't used preview earlier, but when I did for this post, I removed them but a subsequent preview had them put back in.

So I had to rewrite this post written in OpenOffice and paste across. Thanks for bearing with me.
(And if anyone knows the cause of the OT asterisk problem let me know, I'm on Linux btw)

Saving money on the timing belt is still my more important issue though, so thanks for the tips so far. Have a call into that Waterford Garage, waiting a call back.
Also got a very good quote from a garage in Cork €500 "approx" vs €600 to €800 Tom Murphy Audi Waterford, €624 Pierce Audi Tipperary, €640 a local Nissan where my gf is buying a 2nd hand car, hoped to leverage a few quid on the quote as part of the deal.

Avoid that Waterford dealership at all costs, they are notorious for being way over priced and bad service to add insult to injury..

There are lots of good independents around the south east but its a big job and some might not take it.. I know of a guy out towards Tramore whos a very good independent and does a lot of work for the big dealerships in around Waterford city.

Drop me a pm and I'll send you his details.

I've seen misbehaving spellchecker addons in Konqueror do this...

Martin Barrett's the skoda dealer in waterford.

Very good service, the father always gets his A4 looked after in there.
