Hi, Does anyone know if "V-power" (or equivalent) petrol still exists? It used to be available at Shell garages and is supposed to help clean out the engine but since Topaz took over I don't think it is still available???

Nope not for sale anymore - Topaz removed it when they took over as it wasn't selling too well.
They say their standard petrol cleans the engine though...

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Texaco have a cleaning additive called 'Techron' in their petrol, if that floats your boat.

The V-Power that was on sale here was only 95 RON (albiet with special additives). The fuel now supplied by Topaz is 99RON IIRC.

^^ Is it the same as Maxol's E5 stuff?

One of the lads over on isdc.ie got onto Topaz asking them if it was 99ron, he got a offical email back saying it was only 95ron.

Sorry you are possibly right. I was thinking of Maxol's fuel!
However, I still have a feeling I was told that they were to bump the ULG95 to 98 - I'll try to find out tomorrow.

U could be right mate, apparently by law they are aloud to dilute up to 5% of bio ethinol into there petrol and not have to tell the customer.

How many truck drivers do you know, and exactly how many of them tell you these interesting little anecdotes when you're on your knees? ;)

On topic, why not just run a bottle of fuel system conditioner through your tank every 3 months or so?

Would you please keep your silly thoughts to yourself. If you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all!

Oh and I have a strong belief that these sentiments represent the vast majority on here!

I dont think they are doing that, they wouldnt be paying BASF for the additive to their 95octane if they were. I know Hammertime said all fuel is coming from the same place, but I just think its a case that he is being offered E5 only (I dont know what marque he sells under), Topaz are a bit bigger on the corporate scale.
