managed to convince sky to upgrade me to plus for the same price as a new customer.

I'm living in a rented house with standard sky, dual lnb one feed to living room one feed to bedroom, the cabling is tidy (through the attic, with tv point in each room)

my question is, when i upgrade will the engineer follow the same cabling for 50 quid or will he charge more to make it tidy?

    through the attic,

I don't think they will go into the attic as they are not insured,

I am sure someone here who does installs will verify.(or tell me i am wrong:D)

when my neighbours got their sky+ a month ago their installer told them that they shouldnt be going into the attic.........but he did anyway.

It'll all depend on the installer you have

Sky+ will require a second direct cable - LNB to box - for each Sky+ box.

    So 2 Sky+ boxes will mean 4 cables - 2 to each.

i am aware of that, thanks. what i want to know is will the engineer integrate the new cabling into the existing cable run.

No prob.....the original post said "follow the same cabling", not "cable run" or route, so I was afraid you expected the signal to go down the same actual cable.
