Creating a volunteering opportunity

    Hi All,
I’m interested in the setting up a volunteering opportunity in Dublin this summer and am concerned about the potential barriers.

Yesterday I took a “shortcut” by walking along the Royal canal from the Porterhouse North out of town to Ashbourne. While it is a lovely river walk, it suffers like many secluded walks in Dublin (and around the country) from litter.

My ideal plan is one whereby a notice is put on this board (and others) inviting people to come to a clean up on X Saturday morning. I (or whoever) could take a myriad of photos beforehand to show people what to expect. Write a list of jobs (picking up rubbish, painting, make tea, etc) so know what work will be done.

People should bring their own gloves/brushes/tools etc, but I’d also be happy to buy a few.

The following month/week/whenever we could move to another place that needs work.

    My fears are this
    Dublin CC wouldn’t like it
I (or boards) would be liable for someone hurting themselves

PS... Perhaps this would ultimately fit under the B-Team forum

While your motives are well founded, it is spoiled to some degree by your grasp of the basics, that is, the fact that as far as I know there is no canal between Phibsboro and Ashbourne!
I assume you mean Ashtown, Castleknock. I hate to come across as pedantic but in the age of GPS etc, it would be nice if you could get your local geography right!
Then people might take your intentions seriously!
