'99 Bora central locking noises while driving!

Odd one, this. My brother's Bora (no, it's not the one with the horrible grille!) has recently started to make the central lock/unlock noises every minute or so while the engine is on. There's no engine interruption and the car doesn't actually lock, i.e the buttons stay up, and the car will lock and unlock normally. I'm just wondering if this might indicate a future failure of the CL system or something? The car has 180k miles and has a few other niggles, none electrical. Is there anything I can try?

Does it have an aftermarket alarm fitted or is it factory central locking?

I'd say that one of the door locks is faulty - quite common in those Boras. My one one has a dodgy front left door lock - it locks and unlocks of it's own accord while driving. The solution is to replace the lock but it stays locked when the ignition is off so I reckon I'll leave it be.

Same problem with one lock on me Octavia, Using the central locking it pops back up sometimes, but locking from the key it stays locks ... weird ..doesnt bother me anyway.

Yep my Octavia does the same. It even locked me out of the car once while the keys were in the ignition! Weird.

I've read up about it and it could possibly be water ingress into one of the doors. It could then corrode one of the lock connectors. Might be worth checking out - all you'll need it a bit of wire wool.
