Hi, I started using huawei's own dialer software for my e870.
I've noticed a better ping since I've started using the latest software.
Has anyone used it or know if it's just a coincidence?

Yeah ,i had been checking the connection after changing settings on the modem.
Every time the modem has a fresh connection the ping is around 80ms ,goes up as the pages keep loading. Only started getting higher pings a few minutes ago:o

Huawei's software is so much nicer looking than the 02 dialer though ,more vista friendly looking.

I just use the windows modem Dialer software.
No need to wait for Huawei's software to load.

    Dials like a regular modem

Didn't realise that ,I thought the software for the dialer was some sort of emulator or something.
    Thanks
There is usage stats on the huwaei software along with bandwith charts.

Yea it requires Huawei's software to be installed for the drivers.
When you install the software it configures the dialer for you with Number and VPN info.
Then I just remove the software from windows startup and use the windows Dialer.

Its much quicker at getting online when you boot the PC
Down Side is you lose the usage information

But I use the modem in 2 diffrent Computers one running Windows the other running Linux
So I wouldn't be able to track usage anyway.
