Well, since it is the property of UPC, they will come calling for it..

It's not worth their while, they won't bother.

They used to collect those old crappy Jerrold analogue boxes, so I don't see why they wouldn't want their DVRs back considering they're actually worth a bit.

They're useless without a subscription - I don't think you can watch recordings without being currently subscribed to the channels they were recorded from.

They never collected my DVR after I moved despite the fact that I made umpteen arrangements to have it picked up they seemed to be unable to keep to any of them.

The box is now sitting in my attic. I will hold on to it in case they ever do come looking for it. If I happen to see a UPC van passing or know someone who has a UPC appointment, I might try and convince one of their service guys to take it away and log it back into stock.

I have copies of registered letters explaining my new address and where it can be picked up etc, but they never bothered.

There's no way I'm going to post it to their HQ though. It'd would most definitely go missing in their system and I'd be accused of not returning it or something and it would also cost a fortune to post.

I remember years ago we had analogue MMDS in what should have been a cable area in Cork. When we got Sky digital in they refused point blank to take the MMDS antenna or boxes back but told us that we could not throw them out!

So, we packed them into a box (rusty moss covered antenna included) walked into what was their local office at Lapps Quay in Cork and handed the receptionist the two boxes + the MMDS antenna and asked her for a receipt.
She looked a bit baffled and ammused but she accepted them and signed for them.

    Problem solved!

Sadly, they no longer have public offices.
