MP3 Player for Renault Laguna II

I'm trying to find out if there is any direct replacement for the headunit in a Laguna II that has MP3 playing ability? Something that would still use the top display and steering wheel controls? I know that in the past, for the first gen Laguna, that Pioneer (and I think Sony) did headunits that were compatible with the steering wheel controls - I'm just wondering if there's any options available for the newer Laguna II since it has the display up top away from the main headunit.

Considering getting a Laguna II estate for practicality reasons so would be interested to know if one (an MP3 player) is available. Please don't let this turn into a Laguna bashing thread. I've read all the horror stories, but I also have the first-hand opinion of my father who is currently on his 4th Laguna (2 of the first gen, and now on his second Laguna II).

    Thanks. :)

I think the current player can play MP3 files from CD's, though I may be mixing that up with a Renault Scenic. To be honest, I've never tried it.

I fitted a sony to my laguna II a few years ago and got a connection(adaptor) from Connects2, unfortunatley it loses the top display but kept the steering wheel controls (albeit the buttons performed different functions it did the necessary). the sony busted last year and am back to the original head unit now.. also be aware these connections can be quite bulky and the new head unit may not fit completley flush, there was one side in the new sony headunit that was jutting out.

Cheers guys. Just wondering if there's anything out there - even a Renault direct replacement. Currently have a heap of mp3's on cd for the current car, and don't really have the need/desire to be getting an iPod or similar to plug in.
