    Hi,
just got my new tubes I was going to put in a SE Gemini but I can't figure out how to open the microphone body to get to the tubes. I took of the bottom that just screws loose but then I can't get any further. Are you supposed to be able to change the tubes yourself? Surely you must be able to..? Any advise would be appreciated. Paul? Anyone?

Holy **** man those microphones are very fragile I would send it to a specialist, ask Paul Brewer he surely has a contact possibly John!

Anders, as I recall it's easy enough involving removing the bottom screwed ring (if you'll excuse the expression) and sliding off the main body.

Then it's just the same as replacing a guitar amp valve. ECC83/12ax7 valve if I remember correctly?

If you could post up a vocal line when you have the tubes installed it would be really nice to hear the change, I have the same microphone and I love it to bits, what kind of sound are you expecting?

One needs to burn her in too, maybe a day or two of being on before the Valve will settle.

Thanks for the advise. How ever the main body just wont move. I've changed loads of tubes in my life on all sort of gear, also mics, but never run in to this problem.

[5 mins later] got it! :) It was really stuck though. Out with the old and in with the new (tubes). :D
