Better to prebook snowboard equipment or wait and rent it direct from local shop?

    Apologies for the long title.

We're heading off to Arinsal in Andorra next month and I've looked up sites which offer rental of the essentials i.e. board, bindings and boots.

Is it better to prebook this stuff or wait until you're over there and price around a couple of shops? I don't know whether we'd be paying much over the odds by booking online - or if there is a local shops with a great selection who just don't have a website..

    Any advice welcome :)

There are some good deals on line with Sport 2000 and Intersport at the mo. I have only been looking at France but check out their websites to see if the same applies for Arinsal.

Are you going mid - end Feb? If so that will be peak weeks and if I were you I would get it all sorted before I went.

If not then you could turn up and rent without too much problem. The prices for a board on Intersport for France for the week I was looking at was about€70 for board and boots.

You can usually get a better deal by pre-booking. Most websites will show you the range from which you'll be renting from.

    Excellent title, very clear.

Personally, unless a particular rental place has been recommended, I tend to go and rent on the spot. That way, you can look round and see if one shop has equipment that you like or has a special offer on or some other advantage. You can usually get a 10-20% discount if you are a member of any ski club or if something similar. If you ask, they'll usually give it to you.

I've noticed that some of the best website deals are from shops that are a bit of a trek to the snow. The ones right on the slopes often don't bother.
