    Hi Lads,
I've just set up this site Temporary Work in Ireland
I'd love some feedback on it, if ye know of anyone that has temporary work to offer can throw it up.
These days I reckon we can't have enough sites advertising jobs.
    Thanks
    Gary

"These days I reckon we can't have enough sites advertising jobs."

    I beg to differ.

Every single Irish jobs website is advertising the same ghost listings from unreliable agencies.

So, no, I am not going to check out your website, because chances are that it does not have one single legitimate job offer.

Agencies just use these sites to:

    1. scan the job market (how low are people willing to go for a specific job)
    2. gather our personal information so they can spam us
    3. gather a bunch of CV´s so they can go to companies and show them how they have such a large pool of skills to pick from
    4. generally screw us by making us go to needless "interviews" in their offices. You are just a product to them, remember that, so they need to look at you and see if you are...well, marketable.

I really think this whole thing should be brought under review. Posting fake job ads should be illegal somehow. It´s a scam, basically.

I am sorry for the rant, mate. But, in all seriousness, the last thing we need is another job website which mimics the same fake job ads as those in jobs.ie or irishjobs, etc etc

For your information, I have a job. So... you fail, douche.

Also, to claim that if a person can´t get a job these days it´s because they´re crap, is nothing less that arrogant and... well... you´re simply a douchebag.

In addition, to my previous post, I do admit that there are some legitimate offers out there. But if you look at these job websites closely, you will realize that this is the agencies den. Even when you search by Employer, it comes up with agencies results.

Really ineffective way of looking for a job, especially during these times. One legitimate job offer will be sitting in the middle of a 1000 bogus job offers.

Reckon you should set up a thread giving out about job agencies and their abuse of job sites and stop spamming my thread! Well done for having a job!

Well it would be a better site if there were actually any jobs on it...!

Like the rest of em here said I'd prefer if people actually started putting up jobs and that. I do actually agree with yer man above that recruitment agencies spam job sites (you should see it here in oz at the moment), so I'd prefer to get the general public to give it a go first see if anything comes of it.

I just see at the moment looking for stuff myself there isnt a whole lot catered to the temp market (in oz at the moment it's gumtree????)

Spamming? All I did was highlight the state of every single job site out there, which is relevant to the topic.

Consider it advise on how to manage your own website, if you don´t want it to fall under siege from ghost listings.

    Hi Gary.

    Let me get this straight!

You're setting up a site in Ireland, for temporary Irish jobs, when you actually live in Australia?

    Am I getting that right?

    Next question. WHY?

There are no jobs on the site... but it's nice and simple, especially how to post a job.

    Hi,

Sorry, ya, I'm actually only over for another while. I'm Irish and am just on the temp agency scene at the moment. Had a look at the ones at home and it's the same thing from what I can see???

    Thanks
    Gary

Its a good idea and the website seems user friendly. However having been looking for temp work both here and australia I found that most temp jobs come through agencies. If a company only wants someone to cover someone's illness, work overload etc they seem to go straight to agencies. If they need someone at short notice its easier to go through a temp agency as their references and skills have been checked. The only temp jobs I've seen advertised by companies themselves are for maternity or 6 month plus jobs.

However not trying to be negative just thinking maybe you can get an angle on it, create a candidates section? Not just post a cv but perhaps an employer could search by dates available, software packages known?
