laptop wont let me log on

using a dell inspiron 1525, and the windows vista home premium package. Have just tried logging on and all im getting is the following message: the user profile service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. anybody have any ideas whats up, it was working fine earlier on today no problem at all. Help m e please

See can you get into your pc in safe mode!
If you can then - back up any essential files IMMEDIATELY before you try anything else.

Generally, see can you reboot to an earlier stage using "System Restore"
