    I was watching the news earlier and they mentioned this on it.

    Basically it's a manual rhythm sequencer where Ball Bearings are used to trigger drum sounds. Visual feedback is provided from a CRT display underneath to indicate the current time and the state of each beat.

    It was invented by some phd student up north as a college project. He hasn't re-invented the wheel or anything, but it'd make a nice toy to mess about with.
