Basic NTL cable + Universal Remote

We have basic NTL cable in a new house I've moved into. Only problem is that the NTL remote is broken, there is no store located in Galway and we have no account numbers, so ringing would be fruitless. As a result, it's stuck on one channel - The Discovery Channel.

Is it possible to use a universal remote to maybe tune in the channels? I've no idea really what we could do, so apologies if it's a stupid question!

You can change the channel on the box itself you know.

Yes, you can use a univeral remote. You just programme it with the infra red code from the booklet you get with the remote.

There is no box. There's the cable leading from the NTL on the wall, leading to another that seperates it into 2; one for the modem and the other is going into the back of the TV.

It seems like it's only the Discovery channel that is tuned in.

SO you use the T.V. itself to change channels? Then you need a universal remote for the T.V.

If you've no NTL box, it is the TV remote you need. Could it be a matter of tuning?

If you don't have the TV remote, any universal remote will do.

There's no TV remote either. It's broken too. Ha, I'll check out getting a universal remote!

Just ring them and quote your address, they can look up the account number...
