Number of dogs in Ireland. How do I find this information?

    Hi,
    I am looking to find out the number of dogs in Ireland (for a project I'm doing). Does anybody know where I can find this information please?
    I cannot seem to find an up to date accurate figure.

    try dept of agriculture, if they dont know the figures they should do..;)

    The authorities would have a list of all currently licensed dogs but getting an overall estimate of unlicensed and stray muts would be a very difficult task and would only be down to estimates.

    Will try Dept of Ag by phone tomorrow - nothing on their website.

    Agree about licensed dogs - this doesn't take into account the number of unlicensed dogs.
