Spending few months in NY Summer 09

Im considering doing this but the price of accomodation is the sticking point obviously, it being New York and all, just wondering has anyone some good advice or tips? Ive been to NY before, but only for 2 weeks. I would like to spend maybe June and July there.

Ive looked into staying in summer housing colleges there such as NYU and Polytechnic, prices there are better there than staying in a hostel. I dont need to stay in NY city or anything, just somewhere accessible to it.

Anyone done this before? Any advice would be gratefully received?

How do you look into this? Im in the same boat you are, going to NY for 6 weeks and just looking into accomodation now. This would be ideal.

You cant apply until mid to late February. They have a fantastic message board in the contact us section where someone from NYU answers questions always within 1 or 2 days of you asking it.

Ive emailed them twice without reply so not too sure about them. They have good rates its seems anyway.

Let me know how you get on if you go down this route of accomodation or other cheap accom.
