I'm looking to set my Yahoo mail up with Internet Mail which came with Vista.
Is this as straight forward as the instructions on this link ?
    http://www.vista4beginners.com/Windows-Mail-Yahoo-Mail-Plus

I have a feeling it isn't as it mentions Yahoo Mail Plus.
Must one subscribe to this service ?

You need to pay for POP3 access. If you had your account before a certain date, going back a few years now, you still get access to POP3 through Outlook etc.

I'm not trying to be smart, but Gmail offer POP3 access free.

Alternatively, you can use something like YPOPs!

    (First link for your needs..)

    Cheers.
So you can avail of free yahoo access through pop3 by using YPops ?
If you have this running in the background, will it work ?

Using gmail isn't an option for the mo as person that asked me needs to use Yahoo.

Yes it will work, there have been bugs in the past with YPOPS!, so have a quick gander over the website to make sure it suits your needs.

Just as an off-note. Yahoo stepped the roll out of pay services. The first to go pay was the Yahoo dot com, but for years after, you could still sign up to dot uk and dot ie and get POP3 access. Annoying. All my dot ie accounts from a few years back still work through Outlook, as do most of my dot uk Yahoo accounts. No fiddling or payment required.

This is a .ie account i believe.
So i should be ok without the YPops so if it's a .ie account ?

Depends when you registered it. POP3 access seems to have been left 'ON' for folk that signed up before a certain date.

Here are the settings for Outlook, in any case, no harm in trying:

    Incoming mail (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com

    Outgoing mail (POP3): smtp.mail.yahoo.com

    Server Port Numbers

    Outgoing mail (SMTP): 25

    Incoming mail (POP3): 110

The above settings work as of today, for my dot ie accounts.

That's all I can think of that needs tweaking. No idea about Vista's set up though, I haven't upgraded yet *cough*.
