I have been searching Google for information about running tracks in Dublin but with very little luck.

Is there any public running tracks in Dublin? If so has any one got links to information about them? I am looking for somewhere I can use in the evenings once or twice a week?

I'd suggest you join a club in your area if you were thinking of training twice a week on the track.
There's a cinders type track in Fairview I think and I'm not sure about the one in Ringsend - there might be public time on that one.

There is one in Tallaght, I'm not sure if its open to the public but I'm sure it would be.

The Tallaght track belongs to Tallaght AC.
Excellent club in the Dundrum area is Dundrum South Dublin AC. They train on a grass track in Marley in the Summer as far as I know.

    Irishtown also have one,
Fairview is only 380 m as far as I can remember, if its longer then i've set some really fast time there ;)
I've mailed Tallaght last week to find out if its open to the public/groups will update when i get a reply.

Would the one in UCD be free when the college isn't using it?n Would anyone there bother approaching a lone stranger usnig it on their own?

Irishtown is only €5 for a session which is not to bad, but yes if I could just go up and use UCD that would be perfect but it says its opening times are 11-3 at the moment which does not suit me.

They don't close the UCD track anymore so you should be fine there.

The track in Irishtown stadium is class.

5 quid is a bit steep but I suppose you have to think what a gym would cost you (or a bottle of beer in a nightclub in town;))

Or take out a Crusaders membership which covers use of gym etc, €85 p.a. :)

Now that's good value and a recession buster;) And you get a multitude of training partners too.
