    hi guys,

I have almost no home recording experience but i want to use garage band to record some vocals. I have a decent sennheiser mic and a roland ac-60 amp so assuming all i need is a pre-amp. Can anyone recommend a good not too expensive one or two????

    Thanks

Hello Sian, welcome. Here's my low budget/ high return recommendation:

Get the little "ART tube MP" and connect to the line input if you have one on your Mac. If not, get one of the M Audio USB audio interfaces. They have fairly noisy pre amps, so ideally you should still get the ART. The Tube MP V3 has a fun compressor/ eq feature on it, worth getting if you can stretch it.

Are you using the Roland amp to amplify the output of the computer? That's not ideal. You're better off with a pair of headphones, or studio monitors. The Tannoy Reveal Actives are rather nice and are small money. Get whichever ones you can stretch the budget to :)

    Garage Band is cool :)
