D2 is the name of a sh1t nightclub beside Tripod ;) The doormen and management are geebags, me and a fairly sober respectable work gang age 22- 30 were refused entry to a workmates leaving do because we werent regulars, and non regs apparently have to arrive before 10.

I forgot about the cop shop nearby :)

But what is illegal about under ground raves? Are they not just like massive house parties no? Having never been to one I wouldn't know.

...I'm a cool guy really, honest.

well for a start they don't have a "licence" you need to stage an event hence it being technically illegal, there's none of this crappy 2am closing rubbish generally it goes on all nite and into the next day, there are no steroid fuelled coked up bouncers standing at the door there sizing you up like you get at some clubs, drinks are generally affordable as opposed to rip off prices in clubs, there is no dress code and people can wear whatever they want, there's no chance of getting thrown out for consumption of drugs, none of this crap no smoking rule either which has affected the atmosphere in clubs, people are generally a lot more friendlier, the music is better, no holds barred, you should try it one time, id sooner go to one of these partys a few times a year than some club regulary to see some so called superstar coked up DJ getting paid mega money and probably doesn't give a fcuk, underground Raves are the real deal.;)

So basically the liberality of a house party meets the crowd and atmosphere of a club? Me likes! I will start delving into the underground rave scene, once I find it I might see you there;)

Unfortunately there mythical (in Ireland) - you can get some half decent semi legal setups but if your looking for abandoned industrial warehouses full of sweaty MDMA induced love, progressive trance and epileptic strobes you wont find it - at least not in this country.

I don't think it ''ever'' existed over here on any meaningful level anyway -

Sorry man we all got older, had kids and settled down.
Sure, back in the day it could have been a 3 day bender, fighting the cops back from the door of the warehouse and setting fire to cars but these days its a fight to get out the door of the house on my own without getting an earful from the wife about where the hell I think I'm going on a school night.
But at least I have memories, ah yes, those memories.

See I love the idea of an illegal rave but in practice would it not just attract crowds like this http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=l5F4waoLT84 i don't think I'd go down well with a crowd like that to be honest ha

It did exist here once upon a time....

from 1990 on to 1995 there were some amazing times in some amazing venues. Especially 1995 when dublin was named dance capital of europe. Amazing summer. Beautiful weather to go with it too....
