    hey guys.

having a problem with my sound. its only coming out of my usb headset. speakers work fine when i hook up my ipod to them, and sound is coming out of the headset so i'm assuming the sound card is working. i have the realtek high definiation audio as the default audio device and the bar shows that it is picking up the sound but its not coming out the speakers

    any ideas?

    windows vista.
    intel core 2 Q6600
4 gig ram (and yes i know i'm not using it all)
    realtek onboard sound card.

In the Control Panel/sound section/ Recording tab/digitalin section, is the "Device usage" enabled?

    Example:

Also whats selected under "Device" in the sound volume section?

I updated my raeltek drivers last week and am having the same problem now. I'm assuming rolling back the drivers will fix the problem. Haven't been arsed to do it yet though

i update my drivers after the sound wasn't working....

i'll give it a try when i get home though and see what happens. strange that i can get sound out of the the usb headset and not on any of the sound cards ports. i plugged headphones into the jack on the front of the pc and they didn't work either.

It's a bit strange alright. You're just going to have to go through all of your settings because this could be one of a million things
