Heading down to Sligo this weekend and Id hope to get away for a crafty round of golf.

Can anyone recommend a course near Rosses point thats reasonably priced and beginner friendly?

I see the county sligo golf course is near but at 50 quid a round its a bit north of what I was hoping to pay.

    Thanks.

Eh, what about Rosses Point? :P

Strandhill isn't a million miles away and is grand, beginner friendly but a bit nuts in places. Enniscrone is a short enough trip an is an awesome track but less suitable for beginners. Only slightly though.

Rosses point was a bit steep on green fee's Sheet.

Strandhill looks very suitable though. Think Ill give that a try.

    Thanks.

Yeah it's nothing overly special but it is quite nice. Let us know what you make of it.

50 euro for Rosses point is a bargin imo, I played it in june last year and we got it for 60 euro as part of a group, normally it's 80 euro afaik.
If I was you I'd definately threat myself and play it as it's a gem of a course and the setting is amazing.

Bundoran is only about 20-25mins away from rosses point and is very beginner friendly if the weather is decent. Course in pretty good nick too considering the weather lately. The Phone no. is 071 9841302. Green fees are about €55 at the weekend. That is the Summer green fee rate and I'm not sure if there is a winter rate as I dont pay green fees! Give the Club shop a ring and the lads will sort you out if you want!

Oh dont get me wrong david-k....Im sure its a fabulous course, I just dont have the money at the moment (student after Christmas and all that;)).

Also I doubt Id appreciate it at the moment as all I really want is somewhere I can hit a ball into a hole so I can get better:P

erm... that's not even close to being physically possible...

Unless you have a two-tee start and both the 1st and 10th tees are jam packed for every hour of light...

    thats right shriek
the men start on first tee and tenth tee from 8.30 to 1.00.
The women play two tees from 1.00 to 2.15.
The biggest participation in any winter league in ireland.
    Fourball betterball v par matchplay
9 matches to qualify for 36 hole final on last two sundays in february.
We are very proud of it as it is more a social occasion as much as anything else.

have a look at the mens league on strandhillgolfclub.com if you dont believe me

Pity it's a terrible course. €55 is an absolute rip-off

Yeah, none of those courses are a patch on Berties, that wall that you have to get over is impossible.

Yeah never played it but have stayed in the houses beside it few times and always thought it looked like a bit of a field.
