I would often see modified cars with gauges for Water temp, vaccume, volts, air/fuel etc. and often wondered how hard would they be to install?

Also, does anyone know what a tachometer is? :p

Theyre fairly easy to install once you have basic knowlege of electrics. Water temp or air/fuel would be a bit tricker though as some have sensors that need to be fitted aswell.

And a tachometer is the same as a rev counter.:D

good to know that I have a little above basic with electronics so :D

Basicly I have space for 2 so I might aswell throw them in to fill out space :p
probably add a voltmeter and water temp outta boredom

RHCP - what gauges does your car currently have ? Water temp is pretty useful, but a voltmeter isn't that great.

I'm sure other would have varying opinions, but I'd suggest that extra gauges in order of usefulness would be - (all based on not knowing what you already have!)

    1 Rev counter
    2 Water temp
    3 Oil pressure
    4 Oil temp
    5 Voltmeter/Ammeter

Rev counter is great for all driving, even if you seek economy over performance it'll help you pick your chance points etc.

Water temp is very useful - if all your have is an 'overheat' warning light, it generally comes on way too late to do anything about it! A gauge gives you lots of advance warning.

Oil pressure is handy enough - any problems your car might have in terms of lubrication will be highlighted here, again long before a warning light kicks in.

Oil temperature is OK, but probably more suited to performance driving - lets you know not to push it too hard if not up to temp, and lets you know if you've pushed it too hard too!

Voltmeter will highlight battery or alternator problems again before warning lights.

    My tuppenceworth anyway;)

you will need to add a sandwhich plate for the water temp i think, you do for oil pressure and temp anyway.

if its for the civic i'd go for Water temp and oil temp or pressure

It should but there supposed to be very inaccurate, I agree I'd have the two oil one's first if it was only 2 I was fitting
